Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC)

  • Requirements – High school diploma or GED, 200-250 hours of addiction and behavioral sciences education, and 2 years or 4,000 hours of work experience.

Certified Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselor (CADAC)

  • Requirements – Bachelor’s degree, 200 hours of addiction and counseling studies, and 3 years or 6,000 hours of work experience.

Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (AADC)

  • Requirements – Master’s degree, 180 hours of education in alcohol and drug counseling, and 2,000 hours of supervised work experience.

Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS)

  • Requirements – High school diploma or GED, 46 hours of education in advocacy, mentoring, recovery support, and ethics, and 500 hours of supervised practical experience.

Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS)

  • Requirements – Current credential as an AODA counselor at the reciprocal level or higher, 10,000 hours of counseling experience (adjusted based on degree level), 4,000 hours of clinical supervisory experience, and 30 hours of education specific to clinical supervision.

  • Requirements – Specific educational and experiential requirements aligned with criminal justice and substance abuse fields.

At the links below you will find study guides IC&RC endorses for their respective programs. IC&RC does not participate in the development or publication of these guides, However, IC&RC does feel that the information in each guide is information candidates should know to prepare for their examination. IC&RC has developed Candidate Guides to provide candidates with guidance for the IC&RC examination process. Candidate Guides provide background information on the examination development and administration process. They also contain exam content guidelines, sample questions, and examination reference lists. Each IC&RC examination has a coinciding Candidate Guide which can be found linked below:
 
 

Practice Exams 

IC&RC has developed practice exams to assist candidates with their exam preparation. Practice exams are available for the following programs:

Please note the following:

  • There is only one version of each practice examination. Purchasing multiple exams will result in candidates taking the same examination with each purchase. 
  • The practice exam must be taken within 30 days of purchase.
  • After your payment is processed, you will receive a receipt.  This receipt will reflect the passcode needed to access the practice exam.
  • You have 60 minutes to complete the practice exam.
  • The practice exam must be completed once it is started. You are not able to resume at a later day.
  • You will be provided with a performance report after you submit your answers by ending the quiz.
  • Practice exams are non-refundable. 
  • Due to IC&RC Practice exam security, we do not permit candidates access to the Practice Exam questions, answer keys, or other secure materials related to the Practice Exam once the exam is completed
